#Bodyimage is a constant battle in the world of #boudoir and how women see themselves.
It really wasn’t that long ago that a woman’s body was just what it was. Culturally, all over the world women’s bodies are celebrated - regardless of shape. We have a notion in Western Society that the ‘skinnier’ you are, the more healthy you are, well off and more accepted you are. Mainstream advertising loves to exploit the unrealistic and it became the standard. Remember the #heroinechic days of Calvin Klein ads in the ’90s?
Now that we are in 2020, you see a swing in the other direction that values larger #assets including more curves, larger behinds and always the #boobs - ample or humble.
So - what does all of this come down to?
In my opinion as a #Woman, #mother, #photographer and #socialworker is that how women view their bodies is a combination of what we intrinsically feel we should look like - based on things like values passed down (especially by our Mother and Fathers), our perception of #beauty based on what we see in the media and lastly - our reality.
Who we are as Women and Men come from within, aside from all of the extra stuff we are influenced by. Looking deep into yourself and knowing who you are is the first step to self-acceptance and #confidence. It is the first step to being OK with you and being able to walk with a bounce in your step and a smile on your face.
Love, Suz
